You Can Never Have Too Much Cowbell

While driving and listening to the radio I started to think about how music is a great reminder of where we have been, how far we have come, even where we are going.

Music is a mirror to both our past and future. It can remind us of people, places and things that we might have long forgotten. And gives us hope and inspiration for the future.

Many songs have lyrics which one would swear the writer knew or knows exactly what is happening in our lives. It is as though it was written just for us.

Music can make us happy, make us sad, calm our frazzled nerves and even make us angry.

Music can bring joy and peace, be uplifting and encouraging.

Music sets the mood.

Music makes us toe tappers and hip wigglers, some can make us laugh, some makes us cry.

We whistle and hum our favorite tunes.

We sing along with the words we know, make up words for the ones we don't.

Music brings people together.

Just remember...You can Never have too much cowbell.

I Hear A Strange Sound

What's that I hear?

It sounds strangely familiar.

Could it be?

Can my ear be deceiving me?

Maybe I had better take a look.

Wait a minute...can it be...am I sure...

Oh my goodness...I better take a closer look.

It's been a while but I think I recognize what's going on.

It's RAINING!!!

Hallelujah!!!

Weather? or Not

This mornings forecast calls for cooler temperatures. We are supposed to get out of the triple digits. Right now it is 98 degrees.

The forecast also calls for possible rain...but between you and me...the forecast map looks like the rain will all be to the east of League City toward the Liberty county area. Hopefully Mother Nature won't see the map and will decide to give us a little moisture. So far this year it has been either feast or famine.

We are seeing some clouds but so far no rain. Pearland, Pasadena and Deer Park all got a little rain shower last Thursday but League City is still dry. We could see lightning and hear thunder but nothing else.

As for our yard, we are seeing a few hot spots but nothing drastic. Some of the leaves on the plants are starting to curl on the ends so we will most likely loose some leaves.

I'm thinking...maybe we will have a lower water bill and the extra will cover the higher electric bill. lol

NO Water for You

It is official...League City is now under manditory water rationing.

After a month of no offical measurable rainfall and over a week of 100+ degree days something has to be done. According to the weathermen we are to continue with record highs into next week and maybe longer. We have had a couple of 5 minute rain showers the last 2 days but it's not enough to even wet the driveway.

Our house is allowed to water the grass on Monday and Wednesday only between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. Thank goodness we have a sprinkler system on a timer.

Our grass and plants will definately suffer but when the good Lord decides to send rain they will perk back up as long as I can keep the roots alive.

UPDATE...Things are getting seriously dry.

Thursday we were notified restraunts can no longer serve water to patrons unless specifically requested.

You can water folage aka blooming plants as long as you have a spray end nozel on your hose. This can be done between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Absolutely no running hoses!

They will be patroling and any violation will result in a fine up to $500.

One positive--NO MOSQUITOS!!!

Family Fun in the Sun

The weekend before Father's Day, Kimberly and Mark came for a weekend visit.

Saturday morning Joshua had a golf tournament so Craig, Kim, Mark and I spent a little time in the pool. Craig and the kids played basketball.

For lunch we went to Kemah and ate at the Outrigger. It's a little cafe grill on the water where boats can pull up and tie off. They have a little band that plays all kinds of music. It's very relaxing to sit and watch the sailboats coming and going to and from Clear Lake to the Bay and back while listening to music and filling your tummy.

After lunch we went back to the house because Joshua had requested a cook out so he could introduce his sister and brother-in-law to the guys he works with.

Craig smoked ribs and a brisket , we grilled corn on the cob and jalapeno poppers while the kids played volleyball.

After supper everyone played volleyball. I'm proud to say the "old folks" won the first game. On the "old folks" team was Craig, Kimberly, Mark and me. Of course Kim and Mark aren't old but everyone else was younger than them so by default they had to play on the "old" team.

It was a great weekend with beautiful weather. Hopefully we will do it all again soon.

The Old Man makes a BIG Splash

Craig and the boys needed to relax after a long pressure filled day of golf. HA!

Craig being the oldest by many years won the biggest splash. Being the sentimental sap that I am when it comes to my kids, I could just imagine Kimberly's giggles when her Daddy made the water splash over the sides of the pool like he used to when they played ring around the rosey in her little wadding pool.

One question...when do boys finally grow up?

They have no mercy.

Nothing seems to help.

We have tried everything; citronella candels, marigold plants, rosemary and lemon balm plants, bug spray, anything you can imagine.

The little pest swarm the glowing flicker of the citronella candles. I swear I think I saw a few actually make smores.

Bug spray works as meat tenderizer.

Marigolds work best. The little vampires don't like those but the problem is they do like the moist soil around the flowers. If only you didn't have to water flowers to make them grow.

Even the quickest venture out doors makes for an interesting "dance" with waves, kicks, ducks, dodges, flaps, slaps, taps, etc.

Relief comes midday. Never say 90 degrees and 80% humidity isn't heaven. You may sweat but at least you don't itch.
