A Visit to the Big Tree

A few weeks ago, Craig and I along with our good friends Albert and Laurie went on a short weekend trip to Rockport.  We thought we would get out of town for a few days to enjoy some sun and warm weather.  No warm weather was to be found.  A strong cold front blew through so instead we enjoyed tollerated cold and wind but still had a great time.

Along the way we went on a short side trip to The Big Tree.  The signs pointing the way actually said "Big Tree".

We saw tons of shrimp boats in harbor.  The weather was so bad with the wind and cold the shrimpers were not out nor were there any sailboats.

We did venture to Port Aransas for the afternoon and drove along the beach.  Laurie and I got out and chased the seagulls just to stretch our legs but most of the time was spent driving around sightseeing and visiting a few little shops.

One interesting thing that happened while we were gone was a Blue Moon (I think that is what it was called).  The moon was suppossedly 10% brighter than a regular moon.  It was beautiful.  You could see the lines and craters with the binaculars.  It was so big you felt like you could reach out and touch it.

and pardon the bird poop...it is a plaque under a tree after all.

That sure is a big tree. I bet it is really pretty when there are leaves on it. Is Craig Forest? I love his "Indiana Jones" hat (all he needed on was his flowered shirt and flip flops and he would really be a class act). Glad you "enjoyed" the trip, it could have been worse, it could have been snowing on the beach. I hope Craig didn't contribute any showing of his moon to take away from the pretty blue moon. Does this sound like I am picking on him?

Glad you had a nice trip with your friends. I was very interested in the tree history. Wish it had been better weather for you. It makes the memories even last longer when every thing isn't perfect all the time. Counting the days till Chloe makes her grand entry.

I didn't know you had updated your blog. Sometimes it doesn't show up on my livefeed. I really want to climb that tree but given my track record with falling lately...I really shouldn't. :) love you!
